Hi, I’m Lisandra.
I love languages. I love stories. And I think the most interesting part of communication is always the people.
I’m Lisandra Alemán, an English-language educator with a background in language studies, teaching, translation, and bilingual communication.
I’ve always been fascinated by the way language brings people together. Not just through the words we choose, but through our expressions, our stories, our cultures, and the little misunderstandings that sometimes turn into the best conversations.
My academic journey began with English-language studies at the Universidad de Matanzas in Cuba. Over the years, I’ve explored language from different perspectives, including teaching English, translation, and writing for bilingual audiences.
But what interests me most isn’t simply knowing a language. It’s what we can do with it.
I believe good communication goes beyond perfect grammar or an impressive vocabulary. It means connecting with someone, understanding their perspective, and finding a way to express what you really mean.
And sometimes, it means laughing at how wonderfully complicated language can be.
A little beyond the classroom
When I’m not thinking about language, you’ll probably find me reading, trying something new in the kitchen, or enjoying a good conversation.
I love stories in all their forms, especially the ones that make us laugh, surprise us, or give us a new way of looking at something familiar.
I also believe curiosity deserves a little freedom. Not every interesting thought needs to become a lesson, a plan, or a perfectly organized idea.
Sometimes it’s enough to ask a question and see where it takes you.
Why I write
I started this space because there are so many fascinating things about English and Spanish that don’t fit neatly into a traditional lesson.
- The expressions we use without thinking.
- The words that refuse to translate perfectly.
- The cultural details that change the meaning of a sentence.
- The small discoveries that make learning a language a little less intimidating and a lot more interesting.
Here, you’ll find reflections, explanations, practical ideas, and the occasional linguistic curiosity.
Some pieces will help you understand a tricky grammar point. Others might make you rethink an expression you’ve used a hundred times.
And some might simply make you smile.
A final invitation
You don’t have to speak perfectly to have something worth saying.
So whether you’re learning English, exploring Spanish, teaching a language, or simply curious about how people communicate, I’m glad you’re here.
Make yourself comfortable.
There’s always something interesting to talk about.
